Summer Term - Week 1 - Updates

Here are the Y3 updates and headlines for the 1st week of the Summer term.

Year 3 updates for Week 1 of the Summer Term

We would first like to start by saying Happy Easter to all our families and a massive well done to all the children in Year 3 ! What an amazing spring term we have had. Each one of the children has given 100% and this has been recognised in their recent assessment scores. Mrs Pritchard and I are already preparing for an epic Summer Term which includes our 1st ever year 3 residential. We are looking forward to taking the children away and sharing this special experience with them. We would also like to offer thanks to all the parents/carers who attended the open English lessons. It was a great success and the feedback was fantastic - thank you. 3B's open lessons will be rearranged for after Easter - more information to follow.

On a personal note, I (Miss Brown) would like to thank all the parents/carers and especially the children for their well-wishes after my tumble last week resulting in a lovely broken foot. The children have been so respectful and caring and made sure I've been well looked after including lots of hugs ! Thank you so much !

This term will include residentials for Y3 and Y5, Sports Day and Stem week. Please keep an eye on class Dojo, the school website and your emails for more information around these.

  • Notices:

  • We still have a number of our parents/carers who have not connected to our class dojo. This is a great resource for parents to see all the wonderful things our classes get up to whilst at school. Please check your emails and get in contact if you have any problems logging in.
  • It's been a busy week for residential preparations! The final medical forms are being collected, payments are coming in and food options are being collected. If you haven't registered your child's food options yet, please head on over to your emails and complete the google form. There will be lots of information being sent out over the next few weeks so please keep a check on your emails and communication from school.
  • Kit checks will be carried out from April the 15th. Please check your emails and arrange a suitable time to pop into school, so we can make sure the children have the correct equipment.
  • We look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Monday April the 15th.
  • All children need their PE kit on Tuesday and Thursday this week.
  • All children need their library books on Wednesday with reading journals. Reading journals should be in school every day along with a water bottle.
  • This week's learning:

  • In Maths, we will be continuing our unit on fractions looking at adding and subtracting fractions.
  • In English, we will be looking at different writing texts and upskilling our writing to achieve the Y3 standard.
  • In reading, we will be analysing different types of writing genres and answering a range of questions.
  • In PSHE, we are continuing to learn about how we can keep ourselves healthy through food and diet.
  • We move onto History this half term where we will be learning all about Ancient Rome.
  • In Science, we will be completing work around animals including humans and our work on skeletons.
  • DT will be replaced by Art this term where we will be looking at sketching and drawing techniques.
  • Spanish is back on the weekly timetable and the children will be learning how to speak about fruits and vegetables.
  • In computing this half term, the children will be developing their basic ICT skills.
  •

In the final week of Spring, the following children were awarded with a special mention:

3B - Theo and Daisy-Grace

3P - Macey, Lily and Olivia W

This holiday, the children's homework is to have fun, get lots of rest and make amazing memories with their families. We will see you all in two weeks for a fun-filled summer term.

Happy Easter Everyone
