Children

Weekly Update

AU2 WK1

It is already Autumn 2! The children have returned from the half-term holidays raring to go and have settled back into our school routines brilliantly.

In English, the children have begun planning their diary entries, carefully considering how to capture their thoughts and feelings about different activities and experiences. In Guided Reading, we have introduced a non-fiction text all about rivers. The children have been busy exploring the text and answering a range of comprehension questions to develop their understanding.

In our first Year 4 music lesson, the children were introduced to the genre of rock and roll. They had the opportunity to listen to a selection of classic rock and roll songs before learning and practising the famous hand jive dance. They did brilliantly and thoroughly enjoyed getting into the rhythm!

In Geography, we began our new topic, ‘Waterways’. The children used atlases to locate the world’s different oceans and identify the seas surrounding the United Kingdom.

Finally, in Design and Technology, the children were introduced to their new design brief. Over the coming weeks, they will be designing and creating their very own Christmas bauble, which must include a moving part! To get their creative ideas flowing, the children explored a range of existing products and critiqued their designs, identifying features they would like to incorporate into their own creations.

Special Mentions:

Special mentions this week went to Charley B-H in 4H, and Ethan S in 4P for their effort and attitude this week. A big well done to you all!

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

Warm regards,

Mr Piper & Mr Hampton
