Weekly Update

Summer 2, Week 7

What a busy and enjoyable final week in Year 4! We have finished our last pieces of work and enjoyed both our End of Year Awards Assembly as well as the fantastic Year 6 Leavers’ Performance. We’ve managed to squeeze some work in as well.

Maths
This week, we completed our unit on time and children scored well on their end of unit assessment. We also learnt about different types of angles and turns.

English
Our final SPaG lesson focused on the past progressive tense. Children demonstrated a high level of understanding with this linking to their previous learning on present progressive tense.

Reading
We read as much of our book, ‘Pony in the Dark’ as we could and focused on vocabulary and retrieval skills. We didn’t quite get chance to finish the book but children enjoyed the story so far.

Geography
In geography, we looked at the many reasons behind the decline in mining and we completed our end of unit assessments.

Science

In science this week, the children created classification keys linked to our unit on living things.

Music
Children used a variety of instruments in music this week as part of their samba performance. Drums, glockenspiels and maracas were heard across the school.

PSHE

In PSHE, children discussed how to handle change and to embrace the many different feelings that can be caused when situations change.

We’re very proud of all the children this year for the progress they have made. We wish you all a great summer holiday and we look forward to seeing you again and saying hello when the children return on 2nd September into Year 5.

Many thanks for all your ongoing support this year.
