Weekly Update

Summer 2, Week 6

What another warm week it has been! Despite the high temperatures, the children have continued to work incredibly hard, with plenty of water breaks to help keep everyone cool and hydrated.

This week also marked our transition days, where the children spent three days getting to know their new teachers and classrooms in preparation for September. We rounded off the week by enjoying our annual Summer Fair, which was a wonderful way to celebrate together.

Maths
This week, the children focused on converting between 12-hour and 24-hour time. During their transition lessons, they also explored coordinates by plotting points on a grid and learning how to translate shapes accurately.

English
In Year 4, the children completed their explanation texts, showcasing everything they have learnt about this writing genre. During their transition into Year 5, they were introduced to Future Vision by Benjamin Zephaniah. Inspired by the poem’s vivid imagery, the children created their own imaginative poems.

PE
It has been a fantastic week for sport. We began with our annual Sports Day, where the children showed great determination and teamwork as they competed to earn points for their houses. We also completed our final swimming lessons of the year, and it has been wonderful to see the excellent progress the children have made since the beginning of the programme.

Art
As part of their transition activities, the children created vibrant emoji-inspired pop art in the style of Andy Warhol. Their colourful and creative pieces looked fantastic.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support throughout the term.

Warm regards,
Mr Piper & Mr Hampton
