Weekly Update
 

It’s been a busy first week back after the holiday as children started their final half term in Year 4. We have started our multiplication tables check (MTC) this week – some children have undertaken the MTC this week and others will complete it next week. One or two children may complete it the week after.

Here’s a look at what else we’ve been up to this week:

Maths
In maths, children used their previously taught rounding skills to round to the nearest whole number. We have also investigated halves and quarters as decimals.

English
This week, we have compared two different explanatory texts as well as revising and editing a poor example of an explanation.

Reading
This week, our text has linked to our work in science on living things. Children have used their vocabulary, retrieval and inference skills whilst learning about food webs and beater trays.

Wider Curriculum

It’s been end of unit assessment time in science, Spanish and history. Children have looked back at their learning before answering a range of questions in each subject. We’re proud of how well children have applied their learning in these subjects.

RE

Children have started their new RE unit by considering how making a commitment to something can make it more effective.

PE

In PE this week, we’ve started our work on the athletics unit ready for Sports Day with a focus on sprinting.

It’s been wonderful to see how much progress the children have made during swimming. Whether they have moved group or made progress within their groups, all the adults are very proud of the children’s efforts so far.

Special mentions this week went to Brian M, Leela P and Maya S in 4H, along with Thomas B, Macie W and Coby-Lee W in 4P for their effort and attitude this week. A big well done to you all!
