Weekly Update

Autumn 2, Week 6

Weekly Update

The festive season has well and truly arrived in school with preparations well underway for Rosehill’s Christmas Carol performance. It was lovely to see so many of you at the Christmas Fair on Thursday and a special thank you to Molly, Sophie, Charles, Oscar and Laney for helping on the Year 4 stalls. We have also been busy with our learning this week and here’s what we’ve been up to this week:

Maths
In maths, we have continued our multiplication and division unit focusing on both the 11 and 12 times tables and division facts.

English
This week, we have critiqued and up-levelled an example of a narrative, adding in a number of features from our toolkit.

Reading
In guided reading, we have used our vocabulary, retrieval and inference skills to answer questions on a different text type: a film review.

Geography

This week, we compared features of canals and rivers investigating similarities and differences.

Science
Children enjoyed experimenting with different materials to see which of them made the best lining for a set of ear defenders.

DT

The children have finished their cards with moving pieces ready for Christmas!

Performance/Music

We have spent a lot of time practising the songs we need to learn for the performance and we can’t wait to perform to you next week.

Special mentions this week went to Florence B and Emmanuella T in 4H, alongside Deborah D and George L in 4P for their learning attitude and hard work. Congratulations to all of you!

Thank you all for your continued support.
