Weekly Update

AU2 WK3
It has been a very busy week in Year 4 at Rosehill. Everyone has been working extremely hard and making fantastic progress across all subjects. Here is what we have been doing this week:
Maths
We began the week by continuing our work on area. The children created shapes using a given area and compared the area of different shapes. They also completed an end-of-unit assessment, and every child performed brilliantly. Towards the end of the week, we started a new unit on multiplication and division, where the children explored multiples of 3.
English
In English, the children have been publishing their diary entries with great care. We have now moved on to our new writing genre: narratives. The children have started learning about narrative features and have been identifying them in example texts.
Reading
In reading sessions, we introduced a new non-fiction text titled Canals. The children discussed new vocabulary and practised retrieving key information to deepen their understanding.
Geography
In geography, the children used their cartography skills to label the seas surrounding the United Kingdom, as well as the major rivers.
RE
In RE, the children explored why certain parts of the Nativity story are meaningful to some Christians.
Music
In music, the children continued their unit based on the song Blackbird. They listened carefully, reflected on the meaning of the lyrics, and began learning the second verse.
PE
In PE, the children started their new Hockey unit. They began developing their attacking skills, focusing on accuracy and control. In dance, they learned and created movements based on the theme of carnival.
Special Mentions
A huge well done to Scarlett G and Violet R in 4H, and Naomi K and Oliver W in 4P for their hard work and dedication to learning this week.
Always Children
It was time for LKS2’s always children this week so congratulations to Maddison B and Brian M (4H), and Ela B and Charles P (4P) for their consistent effort and dedication to their learning. A big well done to everyone!
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
