It’s hard to believe we have already reached the end of week 3! This week has been filled with memorable experiences. Some of our Year 4 children enjoyed the Castleton Residential, while others had a fantastic time at school taking part in a variety of exciting projects. Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to:

Maths
On Monday and Tuesday, we continued developing our understanding of flexible partitioning. The children worked hard and showed great determination with this concept.

English
In English, the children completed their task of improving a poor character description before moving on to learning how to use prepositional phrases accurately.

Reading
This week’s reading sessions took us into Chapter 3 of The Iron Man. The children explored new vocabulary and practised retrieving key information from the text.

PE
In PE, Year 4 continued their football unit. They developed the skill of increasing speed while dribbling and practised turning with the ball.

Science
In Science, the children learned about processes such as freezing, melting, evaporation, and condensation.

Spanish
In Spanish, the children revised basic greetings and learned how to answer the question, “How are you?”

Castleton Residential
The Castleton trip was a real highlight of the week! The children explored Treak Cliff Cavern and discovered more about Blue John stone. They also climbed Mam Tor—a huge achievement that they should be very proud of. Alongside this, they built shelters, tried their hand at archery, and enjoyed spending time with their peers. The trip not only helped them develop new skills but also strengthened friendships and created lasting memories.

Project Work at School
Meanwhile, the children who stayed at school also had a brilliant time. In the mornings, they rehearsed and created props for a performance of The Pied Piper. In the afternoons, they used watercolours to paint beautiful landscapes of Castleton.
