Weekly Update

Summer 2, Week 7
Weekly Update
Welcome to our first update for the new Year 4 cohort. We’ve had a busy transition week getting to know the children and completing lots of fun activities.
In English, we have focused on poetry, producing a kenning poem all about transitioning to a new school year. Children enjoyed looking at different kenning poems and performing a rhyming kenning all about a tiger. We’re really proud of the children for how hard they have worked in creating their own poem.
In maths, we have focused on shape. We have looked at different types of angles (right, acute and obtuse) before investigating the properties of both 2D and 3D shapes.
In art, we have spent a number of sessions creating a self-portrait that expands to show our interests. The children have used a variety of media including paint, pastel and collaging to demonstrate their hobbies. We hope you enjoyed seeing some of the work on Class Dojo.
This week, because of the efforts of all the children, both 4H and 4P received whole class special mentions – a big well done to everyone! Special mentions were also awarded to Jenson (4H) and Coby-Lee (4P). Congratulations to you both!
Important information for next year:
Our PE days next year will be Monday (outdoor) and Wednesday (indoor). Please ensure children bring the correct PE kit to school on those days.
All the Year 4 team would like to wish you a restful summer holiday and we’re looking forward to seeing the children back in school on Wednesday 3rd September.
