Weekly Update Summer 1, Week 1

A big welcome back to everyone for this shortened week which, despite being 4 days long, has still had lots of learning for the children. Here’s what Year 4 have been learning about this week:

Maths:
This week, we have been focused on converting between improper fractions and mixed numbers.

English:
In English, we have improved a version of a non-chronological report before writing our own independent section of a report about London.

Reading:
During guided reading, we have been quite emotional in class as we near the end of ‘Street Child’. We have practised our retrieval and inference skills using the latest chapters.

Science:
This week, we looked at food chains and the role of the producer, primary consumer and secondary consumer. We created our own food chains from a variety of plants and animals.

PE:
In yoga, the children worked on using a specific yoga flow to help calm any worries.

Geography:
In our last geography lesson focused on Asia, we compared UNESCO Heritage sites in China and the UK.

PSHE:
Our Jigsaw lesson this week focused on the effects of alcohol on our health.

RE:
The children looked at what constitutes a code for living before having a go at creating their own.

We hope you have a lovely Easter break – don’t eat too much chocolate and we look forward to seeing everyone back on Tuesday 22nd.
