End of Spring 2 Week 1 Messages and Updates

What an amazing start to the half-term that was! We celebrated our special mentions as usual - well done to Lily and Olivia-Rose from 5B and Archie and Joseph from 5M - we are very proud of you.

This week has seen us start lots of new projects in quite a few subjects and the excitement around them has been excellent.

The highlights of the week have included some brilliant discussions taking place where the children have learnt to argue politely with one another; developing a great understanding of the link between fractions, decimals and percentages; exploring atlases and understanding what makes up the UK in geography; and to top it all off, we tasted a range of delicious flatbreads in our design technology lesson.

Next week, we have plenty more to look forward to:

In English, we will start writing our very own discursive pieces which address the question of whether or not animals should be kept in captivity.

In maths, we will be continuing working with fractions, decimals and percentages.

In guided reading, we will continue to work on accurately answering questions about our thoroughly entertaining class novel 'How to Train Your Dragon'.

In science, we will continue our unit of work on animals and humans.

In design technology, we will be looking at weighing and measuring accurately.

In R.E., we will be continuing our enquiry on Christianity which looks at how important it is to Christians to believe that God sacrificed his only son.

In P.S.H.E., we will be continuing our unit of work around being healthy with a focus next week on alcohol.

In geography, we will be looking at the make-up of the British Isles and being able to locate these on a map.

In P.E., we will be developing skills in both badminton and basketball.
