Children

End of Spring 1 Week 4 Messages and Updates

We've had another great week in year 5 this week. It's been brilliant to see the children putting so much effort into their writing this week - there are some brilliant narratives which are ready to redraft next week. As well as this, the team work that some of the children have shown when they have been editing pieces of work together has been superb.

We've had a couple of really wet days this week and those children who have had their P.E. kits in school even on days that we don't have P.E. have found this really useful as they have been able to get changed into dry clothes if they were wet on the way to school. We've also suggested that the children have a spare pair of socks in their bag in case they arrive to school with wet socks.

A quick reminder about snacks for break time - these are supposed to be fruit, cereal bars or yogurts. Crisps and chocolate bars are not appropriate snacks and the children will be asked to have these with their lunch instead of at break times.

Next week, we have loads of great lessons planned:

In English, we will be publishing our narratives after a final tweak makes them the best pieces of writing we have ever done.

In maths, we will look at finding equivalent fractions and decimals.

In guided reading, we will be looking to improve the accuracy of our written answers as we continue reading 'How to Train Your Dragon.'

In science, we are looking at the phases of the moon.

In history, we are looking at the legacy of the Normans.

In PSHE, we are thinking about how we can help others reach their goals and dreams.

In Spanish, we will continue our topic of work around the date.

In P.E., we will continue our extremely engaging dance topic of work.

In art, we will start our final pieces of work in the style of Henri Rousseau.
