Strengthening Materials
This week, Year 5 became young engineers as they explored different ways to strengthen materials for their bridge projects. The children tested techniques such as folding, layering, tubing, and adding triangular supports to see how each method improved stability.
They experimented with paper, card and art straws. The class were excited to discover how simple changes could make a big difference to a material’s strength.
These investigations will now help Year 5 as they begin designing and building their own bridges. We’re looking forward to seeing their final creations!
