End of Summer 1 Week 2 Messages and Updates

Another superb week for our year 5 classes topped off with an amazing assembly to finish this afternoon. Because of the Bank Holiday last Friday, we didn't check our attendance figures - it turns out that both year 5 classes achieved 100% attendance for their first week back - well done everyone!

This week, 5M were chanting happily after the assembly as yet again they topped the charts for their wonderful attendance 'We've got our trophy back!' was ringing out loud and proud from the classroom.

Our special mentions this week were awarded to: Max W, Priyenthen, Iyla, Katie, Ronnie, Thomas, Rubie and Xander - well done guys - I wonder who will get them next week?

Notices:

Next week, the children need their P.E. kits on Monday and Thursday although we do ask them to be in school all week if possible. Earrings should be removed before school please. Please ensure children have a suitable outdoor kit on Monday (white t-shirt, a warm jumper, jogging bottoms and trainers).

Please encourage the children to spend a little time each day reading, which we would be grateful if you logged on boomreader so that the children get dojos in school, practise their spelling patterns and spend a little time working on mastering their times tables.

Next week's learning:
- In maths, we will continue looking at angles.
- In reading, we will be starting a new guided reading text - Floodland by Marcus Sedgwick
- In history, we will continue studying the Shang Dynasty - looking at the importance of finding Fu Hao's tomb and learning who she was.
- In science,  we will continue our new unit of living things and their habitats, looking at lifecycles of different animals.
- In art, we will continue studying Claude Monet.
- In computing, we will start creating images using google drawing tools.
- In Spanish, we will continue our topic on clothing, looking at how we can explain what clothing we wear at different times of the year.
- In P.E., we will continue developing our skills in cricket and athletics.
- In P.S.H.E., we will continue our new unit of developing a healthy lifestyle - focusing on alcohol.
