Another busy week in Year 6, with lots of fantastic learning taking place across the curriculum! Here’s what we’ve been up to this week…

📝 Writing
This week, we’ve been writing our diary entries in role as Harry Potter! The children have really embraced writing from Harry’s perspective and have produced some excellent diary entries all about the moment he discovered he was a wizard and his adventures in Diagon Alley. We’ve been really impressed with their creativity and the effort they’ve put into their writing! 🪄⚡

🔢 Maths
In maths, we’ve been tackling multiplication involving 4-digit numbers multiplied by 2-digit numbers before beginning to explore division. Next week, we’ll be taking on the challenge of long division!

📖 Reading
We’re getting closer to the end of Room 13, and the suspense is building! Fliss finally knows what she needs to do to stop Ellie-May… but will she be able to do it? We’ll have to wait and see! 👀

🎨 Art
We’ve started collecting our materials ready to create our own James Brunt-inspired artwork. We’re looking forward to seeing the children’s creativity shine as they use natural materials to produce their designs!

🌱 Science
In science, we’ve been exploring how plants adapt to survive in different environments. We put our knowledge to the test by designing our very own perfectly adapted plants that could survive the harsh conditions of a desert! Some fantastic and imaginative ideas!

📢 Reminders for Next Week

🚌 Tuesday – Crucial Crew Trip
We’re heading off to Crucial Crew on Tuesday! Children will need to bring a packed lunch or have a school packed lunch ordered through the school office.

👨‍👩‍👧 Tuesday & Wednesday – Parents’ Meetings
Parents’ meetings will be taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday. Appointments are available to book online. We look forward to catching up with you and sharing how your child has settled into Year 6!

🏴‍☠️ Friday – Peter Pan Panto Workshops!
We’ve got something exciting to look forward to on Friday! We’ll be taking part in dance workshops with members of the Rotherham Civic Theatre pantomime cast to help launch this year’s production of Peter Pan! We can’t wait! 🎭✨
