Autumn Term - Week 1

Autumn Term - Week 1
End of Autumn 1 Week 1 - Messages and Updates
What an amazing start the children have made to their time in Y6. We have started new projects, got back into good routines and even sat our first assessment of the year. Throughout it all, the children have listened attentively, worked hard and tried their best all week.
A huge congratulations to Amie and Dawson who were the first two children in Y6 to receive special mentions - you should be really proud of yourselves!
In writing, we have started looked at descriptive settings, identifying the features we would expect to see before we move on to writing our own pieces next week.
In reading, we have continued our novel from transition 'Room 13' and started looking at how we answer questions accurately.
In maths, we have started looking at place value before completing an arithmetic assessment earlier today.
In geography, we have started looking at coasts in preparation for our upcoming residential to Whitby. We looked at the countries which make up the British Isles and the surrounding islands, seas and oceans.
In art, we started looking at our feature artist James Brunt - looking at how he makes his work out of natural materials and studying the interesting patterns and designs he uses.
As we continue our learning next week, please remember to send your child with their P.E. kits on Monday and for anyone attending the residential, we would like to check your boots, waterproofs, coat and rucksack at some point next week please.
Kind regards,
The Y6 team!
