Weekly Update

AU1 WK1

What a fantastic start to the new school year! Although our first week has only been three days long, Year 4 have already packed in an incredible amount of fun, learning and excitement. One of our highlights was our guided reading lesson, where we became author detectives! The children headed into the hall for a fact hunt, searching for information about our author and working brilliantly together to discover interesting facts. 🔎📚

We also launched our new History topic: The Indus Valley! The children were fascinated to learn about what life was like thousands of years ago and were particularly amazed to discover that the people of the Indus Valley had flushing toilets! 🚽 We compared life in the Indus Valley with life during the Bronze Age and the children did a brilliant job explaining which time period they would rather have lived in and, most importantly, giving reasons for their choices.

Homework will begin next Friday. More information about the homework and what the children will need to complete will be sent home next week. 🏠📖

Spellings will begin on Monday, and children are expected to practise their spellings regularly at home. For next week, all children will be working on the same set of spellings. This will allow us to assess their spelling skills and decide which spelling group will be the most appropriate for each child moving forward.

Special Mentions:
Special mentions this week went to Lottie B in 4H, along with all children in 4P for their effort and attitude this week. A big well done to you all!
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

Warm regards,
Mr Piper & Mr Hampton
