Climate Debate

This week, Year 5 have been debating and planning how to make Rotherham a greener town in response to the climate emergency declared in 2019.
Working collaboratively across both Geography and English lessons, the children have explored the environmental challenges facing our local area and discussed practical ways to create a more sustainable future. They have considered issues such as pollution, waste, transport, and protecting green spaces, while also researching possible solutions.
As part of their learning, the pupils are now preparing to write formal persuasive letters to the local council. In their letters, they will outline the problems they have identified and present thoughtful, well-reasoned suggestions for positive change within the community.
