This week, Year 5 took part in a traffic survey outside of school as part of their Geography learning. The children worked together to record how many vehicles passed the school within a set period of time, carefully collecting and analysing their data.
This activity linked closely to their learning about the population of Rawmarsh and allowed the children to explore how increased traffic can impact the local area. They discussed how pollution from vehicles contributes to climate change and considered ways communities can help to reduce their environmental impact.
The children showed excellent teamwork and enthusiasm throughout the investigation and enjoyed taking on the role of geographers by carrying out real-life fieldwork. It was fantastic to see them making meaningful links between their classroom learning and the world around them.
