Weekly Update

Summer 1, Week 5
The Year 6 children have had a hardworking week undertaking their SATs so school has looked a little different this week. We’ve been really pleased with how our Year 4 children have adapted to a few of the changes so read on to found out what we have been working on this week.
Maths
In maths, children progressed from dividing 1-digit and 2-digit numbers by 10 to dividing 1-digit and 2-digit numbers by 100. We completed our End of Unit assessments and children performed really well.
English
It has been a different week in English as we focused on writing a set of instructions as a one-off topic. Using a video from the astronaut, Chris Hadfield, as inspiration, we learnt all about how to brush your teeth in space which is quite different to how you brush your teeth on Earth.
Reading
This week, our text has again linked to our history unit of World War I by focusing on how World War I ended. We have used our vocabulary, retrieval and inference skills to positive effect.
Science
In science, children examined different food chains before creating their own.
History
Children looked at the end of World War I and how the poppy became a symbol of remembrance. We also recapped the key events of World War I before placing them on a timeline.
Art
This week, children continued working on their final pieces, focusing on the use of bright colours, abstract designs, and blending techniques in the style of the artist, Georgia O’Keeffe.
Spanish
In our next lesson of the ‘Mi Casa’ unit, children learned how to say which rooms were not in their house.
PSHE
As part of Mental Health Awareness Week 2026, children came away from our Jigsaw curriculum to reflect on what is important to them in life; a lovely class display was created from their work.
PE
There were lots of cricketing skills on display as children moved onto playing in a competitive environment. Some excellent throwing, catching and striking skills were shown.
Special mentions this week went to Enoch A and Scarlett G in 4H, along with Harley B-H and Lily S in 4P for their positive attitude to learning this week.
LKS2 had the opportunity for Always children this week and these were awarded to Nectaria O and Leela P in 4H, along with Grace R and Oscar S in 4P. A big well done to you all!
Thank you all for your continued support.
