Weekly Update - Week 4
Last week, we had another wonderful and busy week in Y3. The children are all underway with their Spring Term projects and are enjoying a variety of lessons in different subject areas.
This is what the children did in their lessons.
Maths
The children moved onto division this week and started to apply different methods to solve these questions. Next week, we will be continuing with our division work.
English
Miss Brown's group started their new genre of writing and looked at the features which need to be included. This week, the children are starting to plan their next piece of writing.Mrs Pritchard and some of our other phonics groups, have continued working on their RWI programmes.
Reading
Miss Brown's group read Gorilla last week and answered a range of questions from the text. They have enjoyed exploring the style of the author and looking for hidden messages. Mrs Pritchard's and the other phonics groups continued consolidating their sounds and applying them to a variety of different texts. This week, the children will be looking at Gorilla again and exploring different ways to interpret the text.
History
This week, the children will continue to explore Ancient Egypt and look at what made this period so interesting and why it is an important part of our history and why it all came to an end.
Science
Last week, the children completed more learning around different rocks and what they are used for. This week sees the children continue their work on weathering.
Art
The children have made their clay models last week so this week they get to paint them using the techniques they have been working on in Art lessons.
Spanish
The children have continued their work on musical instruments and how to pronounce them in Spanish. The children will be continuing this during the week.
Computing
The children used the i pads to begin i motion animations. The children explored how the pictures can move. This week, the children will be creating their own i motion movies.
PE
Our first dance lesson focused on children developing different levels and movements. This will continue throughout this half term.
Special mentions last week went to Arizona and Khairat in 3B, alongside Alice and Eddie (3P) for their overall effort and attitude to learning during this new term. Congratulations to all of you!
Always Always club was also back last week and the following children had their hard work and positive attitude rewarded. Well done to Hudson and Autumn (3B) and Lola and Erin (3P). You are amazing and we are so proud of you!
Thank you all for your continued support.
