⭐ Year 6 Weekly Learning Summary ⭐
This week has been full of positive learning experiences across the curriculum. Here is an overview of what the children have been working on:
📚 English
We began looking at balanced arguments, researching whether animals are best living in the wild or in human care. The children explored key features of balanced arguments and learned how to identify bias in texts.
➗ Maths
We continued to develop key arithmetic skills, with a focus on fractions. This included dividing and multiplying fractions, and applying these skills with increasing confidence.
🎨 Art
The children started exploring our artist for this half term, Banksy. They looked at his life and a range of his artwork, discussing the meanings and messages behind his work.
🔬 Science
We began a new unit on the circulatory system. This week focused on the structure of the heart and its role in pumping blood around the body.
🧘 PE
The class enjoyed a relaxed yoga session, focusing on the Sun Salutation sequence and controlled breathing exercises to support flexibility and wellbeing.
🎤 Class Assembly
Our class assembly focused on the school council. Children shared ideas from their recent meeting, including plans to create calm-down spaces within classrooms.
🏆 Achievements
There has been a great improvement in arithmetic test results this week, with children showing focus, resilience and a strong work ethic under test conditions.
